For my independent reading book I read, Drive by Daniel H. Pink. This book really caught my attention when I realized it was mainly about motivation. To me motivation is a key part in wanting to accomplish or succeed at doing something. If there is no motivation in what you are trying to do then you will feel like it can never be accomplished. I think the reason I enjoyed this book more than my classmates would if they read it is because I can relate to the main purpose of the book. In my daily life I stay remember to stay motivated because I always remind myself that I am doing it for the better of me. I think something that another 11th grader would find interesting about this book is looking at things in a different way. This book has so many different perspectives on life and it really shows you how the real world works. Something that might frustrate you about this book is at points it can get a bit confusing with the terms being used. It is very useful to annotate what you are reading because it helps you remember and really understand what is being wrote. Dr. P annotated about half of this book and as I read I would read his notes and they really did help me understand the book even better. “An extrinsic reward should be unexpected and offered only after the task is complete”. This is one of the many interesting topics that are brought up throughout this book. I definitely agree with what is being said here because being awarded should only happen if you know you deserve it and can accept it knowing that you accomplished something. To achieve that goal and receive that award you must motivate yourself to a point were you can accomplish anything. I enjoyed this book quite a bit and want to look more into books written by Daniel H. Pink.
One thing I will never forget to do when I am older is have fun because some adults can forget that and it is honestly the key to living a good life. Some days you can be down but maybe going out with your friends or family can cheer you up. Life only gets harder as you grow up and making sure you enjoy it is very important because life is a gift and enjoying it to the fullest is so important!Dear Isaiah,
